Just for thought, the Walcks hose is a tough reinforced piece (I had one before I swapped out the heater), that will handle underwood temps and resist most impact damage. I'd be concerned that defroster hose may not be up to those specs. Cost is a wash initially. My advise is to get the known quality.

My local O'reilly's ordered me a 6 foot piece today and it cost $9.99. Supposed to be here next week so we'll see if the story's the same when it arrives. Thanks Andrew for the part number because without the number they had previously told me they didn't have any 4 1/2" hose and didn't know where to get it. Without part numbers they're pretty clueless.

UPDATE. O'Reilly's bombed out and couldn't get me the hose (probably figured out their pricing error...). Couldn't bring myself to pay the $35 for 3 feet of intake hose so went back into the shop to see what I could find. Decided to use some 5" EPDM (rubber) industrial vacuum hose that I've had for years, not knowing what to use it for! Also used some 1/4" rubber matting material as sleeves/collars inside the 5" hose to make the fittings onto the air intake and the heater box. Here's some pix.

Wanted the hose to have an S-bend in it so wrapped a tie-wrap around it and a little baling wire over to a hole in the radiator shroud. Might tie off to radiator support once i construct and install (thanks for the pix).
