Hopefully this is in the right place. I seem to not be able to figure out where to post these questions. I'll figure it out sooner or later. Probably later.
I searched for this info before asking and found no great answer(s).

1)Anyone have an idea where to get replacement tail lights like these in the photo? Are they even the original or original style? If not what were and where to get those?

2)what size (thickness) chain did these tailgates have back in the day? I see the earlier jeeps had canvas covers over the chains as discussed in other threads, but what about a 70? I was thinking a bike inner tube with holes in it as suggested for the canvas type but I'm trying to within reason, stay original. As they are the PO used cable with pipe insulation wrapped around, as you can see in the photo. Very....tacky but it works. I want to change em though.

3)what did/are the screws for in the upper left corner of photo, on the gate? Just curious.

these visors are functional. Stiff but not too stiff as far as up and down and staying put goes. I searched around and see that this has been hit on before in other threads but more of replacement type questions ( I want to stay with what I got), but were these covered at some point? Or were they just metal from the factory? there is some weird residue around the border that may have made it into the photo. I'm thinking some vinyl on top would look better. Seem to remember my CJ7 having more than just metal. But can't be too sure about that. Long ago.

    Thanks for any info.

    1. The only source for those lights is another Jeep. They are factory. There is no aftermarket source for lights that are identical to the originals. The lenses are available.
    2. Don't know. I can measure my chains later.
    3. You mean the holes on the plateau? They are for a footman loop. A strap went through the footman loop to secure the early tops.
    4. They were covered with padded vinyl. Repops are available, but the screw holes won't line up.

    Thanks Tim .

I'll look around for some lenses. The left TL is just about clear currently. Got a source handy?

Does the 70 also have some type of tailgate chain cover as do earlier models? Thanks in advance for the chain size info.

Try a Google search for Trailquest off road. Have bought some stuff from them in the past. Very easy to work with.

Hey, thanks Rusty. Sort of a one stop shop there.

Re the lenses, there are a lot of sources. The Jeep PN is 8122928; do a Google search for "Jeep" or "Crown" plus the part number. Z&M has them (his may be NOS). Krage has them.

The chains on my Jeep are 18" long. The links have a diameter of 0.195". I still have the original covers, which are plastic.
