Explain this Vin to me

My Vin # is 57548142914. I thought It was a 1962 cj5 because that was what the title said
But The State of PA now says it's a 1956 cj5 first 2# 57 Universal second 2# 54 Open Body 5th. 8 Universal 6th 1 Left Hand Drive 7th 4 F4-134 without Emission
2914 Sequential Serial Number. OK shouldn't the Sequential Serial Number be 5 digits long or does the 4 count in the Serial Number.
What am I doing Wong

57548 is Universal Open Body CJ5 (Not a diesel engine) (the 8 is also for universal), all the rest is the sequential serial number.
(easier to separate out if you put a space or two between the designator numbers and the serial number.

Yours is behind mine numerically and mine was released from the factory in February of 1960. 57548 110625

Should have basically the same info in the front of the CJ5 Repair Manuals.

 

The year on the title of our '63 was incorrect when we bought it two years ago. I printed out the info in the link that 1960willyscj5 gave you and took it to DMV. They changed the title to the correct year.

According to the vin you've listed, the chart says that your vehicle was built in January '62.

 

6th digit (drive code) and 7th digit (engine code) are only for 13 digit VINs as indicated in the doc. With your 11 digit VIN, your sequential serial number is 142914 and thus Jan 1962 build as jbjeeps said.
