I am trying to put a holley 4bbl carb on my stock amc 360 2bbl intake. I want to know if the following will fit.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spectre-Car...=110846847986&ps=63&clkid=7962157049876301312

Also the jeep has been running fine for several months and the other day I parked it on a decline for about 20 min. when I went back out it would not crank. So push it to level ground and still nothing. I went back out the next day and now it want even turn over. the battery is fully charged and i can hear the pop sound of the silinod engaging, but nothing else happens any ideas?

There are iron AMC 4V manifolds out there, from 70-74ish AMC cars and trucks with the 4V 360 or 401, that will fit the Holley carb. That would be a much better option than the 2V-4V adapter. Look for an AMC 4V square pattern manifold.

Clean your battery cable ends, and jump across the solenoid with your jumper cables and see if it cranks. Bad solenoid is a common problem, but this sounds more like a dead battery or corroded cables. Or it could be a bad starter. You could remove the starter and see if it runs on the shop floor when you connect a battery to it. But check out the cables and solenoid and battery first.

Tap the solenoid with a hammer or jump through it with a screw driver. Mine sticks sometimes and thats what I do.

The first thing to do is clean-clean-clean the battery and starter cable ends and the battery posts.

Make sure the battery is strong and fully charged. Have it load tested at your local NAPA or other parts store if you aren't sure.

The Ford-type solenoid on a '73 isn't easily jumpered with a screwdriver. Easiest thing to do is to put one of your jumper cables on the positive + battery terminal, and touch it to the starter-cable-side of the solenoid. There will be sparks, but the engine should crank (make sure it's out of gear!) This bypasses the solenoid and connects the battery directly to the starter.

Still no cranking? Starter comes out.

Tim speaks the truth here. Dropping a 4bbl. carb on a 2bbl. manifold won't gain you very much, the engine still only has 2 holes to draw through. The restriction in the manifold would negate the value of the larger carb.

Assuming that is the only carb you have available to you and you only want to spend 20 bucks on the adapter, the adapter should work in your situation. However for anyone that runs across this thread wanting to mate a 2 barrell carb to a 4 barrell manifold using the same aluminum adapter, it wont work as described. Note the description on the picture states only 4 barrel carb to 2 barrel manifold. I bought one of these and flipped it over for a 2 barrel carb to 4 barrel manifold, and i had a huge vacuum leak. It is not solid aluminum. I found the phenolitc (whatever) to be better

^This. You may gain a little bit of air flow over the stock 2 bbl carb but the limiting factor is the stock manifold.

I fixed the starting problem, loose wire to the starter.

I am not trying to change to a 4 bbl card for performance but I have an old mc2100 carb now and it is missing parts and runs like crap. i had it rebuilt and tune but still not working like it should. I was thinking the holley carb would be better than the mc2100.

The 2100 works well if in good condition. It's a simple and reliable carb, that works well on the trail.

The Holley is a good carburetor too, but they are generally lousy on the trail without a lot of modification.

I think if you put the Holley on there, you will be trading one set of problems for another. I suggest that you keep on trying with the 2100. What specifically is wrong with the 2100?

I am getting back fires from the exhaust and sometimes through the carb. I tried today to tune it some more. I turned both of the screws and all the way in then turned them out three full turns. seems to run better but has a loud back fire when I let of the gas.
