What do people do for the angle of the engine on engine installations? I installed my 225 v6 in my flatfender jeep basically flat, (no 1-3 degree tilt downward based on the rear u joint yoke angle) Apparently I did not read far enough ahead in the whole installation process. I noticed that my carb was tilted forward slightly and started reading up on this topic.

I did lower the rear cross member down about a 1/4" today, backed the bolts out just to see how it looked. I calculate that should give me about a 1/2 a degree of tilt. My motor mounts are welded in solid, hate to cut them and reweld them. I have read I could shim the carb flat. I dont see how I could tilt the motor enough to get the carb flat though.

I would slot the front bolt hole (each side) where it mounts to the engine and use about a 3/4 inch drop in the cross-member which should give you a level carb and about the right angle for the drive shaft yoke angle to the diff angle.

Hate to say it, But I would cut the mounts and do it right. There is alot on the drive train, and it needs to be right or you will end up chasing issues for years. Stock mounts don't run that much (been a long time though).

This may not help you now but I mounted mine with the carb. base level which gave the engine about a 3* slant.
