Possibly a dumb question here, but...I'm replacing the oil in my air cleaner, everywhere I've read says fill new oil up to "bead level". I can't find any kind of index or reference mark on my cleaner. Anybody know where that mark is typically located, or how deep the oil should be?

    thanks!

I'm assuming you're filling a 4-134 based on your signature. On the 4-134 air cleaner, I think it's stamped/etched into the side of the cleaner? There's no oil fill marking inside or out that you can find?

Sorry should have clarified...yes, a 4-134. Doesn't seem to be any markings that I can see.

Hmm, we'll have to wait for someone who has a 4-134 to comment then, I have the V6 with corresponding air cleaner.

It's a line stamped into the side of the bottom pan. IIRC it's just a bit more than enough to cover the center dish dooey. Basically you want enough in the to come up to the bottom of the filter element but not so much it drains out going up or down hills.

The line is 1-1/4" below the top flange of the cup, on my '57 F-134.

is your air cleaner pan really dirty? There 8should* be a stamping in the side of the pan that indicates how high the level should be.

If not, as stated above, it should be just deep enough to cover the center dish of the pan.

I know this isn't the identical model, but it gives an idea of what to look for
