F-134 - where do you have your timing set with your 'electronic' ignition?

    I have been searching for chat about the setting of the ignition timing of a Petronix or Omix ignition on a F-134:hurrican: & have come up empty.

    When I purchased & installed this OMIX distributor years ago, I seem to remember the instructions suggested to set the timing at 12*BTDC.

    The engine is now freshly rebuilt. I had it set at about 20* BTDC, because it seemed to have the best throttle snap there. It certainly was lacking on power, however, at speed, and my milage was worse than expected (about 14.5 MPG)

    I brought the timing back to 12* BTDC this AM, and the Jeep pulled up to & held 55 MPH MUCH easier, on the way to work.

    This got me to thinking what others are running their timing at on their 'upgraded' :hurrican: F-Heads..

    Are folks still running at 5* BTDC or what?

    I am forced into this method. I have no timing marks anywhere but the notch on the crank pulley.

    I am going to try dialing it back towards 5* & see how it pulls.
