or if yours is not electrically fried up you can rebuild it yourself.
there is a Toyota starter swap,
otherwise i would call up a used Willys parts house.

Take it to a electric motor rebuilder. Around here they can rebuild one for $30ish

I'm still considering having the one I have rebuilt locally. I haven't seen one done for $30.00 in a few years though, I was guessing $60. I may have found one in the $40 range, but won't know till Monday.
I have not heard of the Toyota conversion. Is it a straight bolt on? Or are there mods involved?

If it were me, and may be soon, I would go the Toyota Landcruiser starter route.

Right now Rock Auto has one for 32 bucks.

That is for a new starter, not a rebuilt one!

Unless he has a 6-volt system.

And I have to wonder how durable a starter can be, for $32.

32 bucks for a starter.....do you know the part number? The only one I saw on the Rock Auto site(12 volt) was over 100.

And I spoke wrong. That is for a remanufactured starter.
Still a bunch cheaper than trying to get the Kiaser-Willys one rebuilt.

This is interesting....I guess you learn something new every day. Worst thing on this deal is the shipping....$17.04...ouch. It looks like a straight bolt up....is that correct?

I did the Toyota starter a few years ago and it has been trouble free ever sense. I had to slot the holes on the starter and use a bolt and nut on the top. As said, there are a lot of posts on this. Just do a search and you will have a lot of reading material. This is a great mod.
