Hi guys, in my way to put my cj5 with coil spring i have a big question i worry about. I'm planning to use ford radis arm on scout 2 dana 44 axle.

My probleme is, on the passenger side i dont have enought space to put the triangle. I would like to know if i can cut the casting to bring it the the tube just like picture post under. I know that axle tube are hold into the casting with 2 spot welding so i will cut casting without cuting the spot weld. Is that something i can do?

I'm sure others with more knowledge will chime in but I'd think that would really weaken the housing to the point of easy failure......wonder if you could weld some sort of gusset to the axle that could become the attachment point?

I understand what you said, but if you look each side of the casting you can easily see that there 2-3" more lenght of casting on the short side than the long one. You can see that spot weld on long side is about 0.5"-1" from the tube and the short side it's about 2-3 inch from the tube...

Usually if you match the setup on the long side, the short side will be as strong or stronger (based on my limited experience). I have reset a couple axles, but not cut one up and redone one 'yet'.

Most of what you’re pointing to is a 'fixture' and is different depending on the application of the axle. Do some measuring on some base axles of the same model for different applications at a junk yard if possible to set you mind at ease. Also look at the ones from aftermarket sources to get a good idea.
