In an effort to keep my Commando restoration looking as original as possible, I want to pick out a set of tires that at least look the part. In some research I found that some Commandos came with the Goodyear Power Cushion. I even found a site that still sells them:

    http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/antique&classictires.html

But I don't really like the passenger car look of these tires. Since my Commando was used as a gas station snow plow in its early days, I am thinking it may have had some more agressive tires. I can't seem to find any information on other tires used on original Commandos. Does anyone have any knowledge or recommendations on a good semi-agressive looking tire that would be keep it looking semi-original?

    Thanks again!

They used Goodyear Suburbanite originally. I have one in the back of my vert but can't get at it right at the moment. A member here had a set for sale with the slot mags, not cheap by any means but as original as you could get. Universal Tire has some that are close. You can check out another thread on Firestone Town And Country tires on the board HERE.

Thanks! That really gives me an idea of what kind of tread to look for. I'd love to find those Namco All Terrains, but the link in that old post doesn't have them anymore. Anyone know where I can find these?

Also, I guess I should have asked to make sure I am looking at the right size. I was assuming 7.00-15 would be correct for original rims?

Stock were 7.35 so a 7.00 would do. I'll have to get out and have a look at the one in the vert, for some reason I'm thinking it's a G78 or an H78. There's a really good old tire conversion chart HERE.

Had to go check cause it would have bugged me until I did - mine is 8.55-15.
