    Hi folks,

I just got the 1963 pink CJ5 home from the brake shop. It now runs and stops fine. Unfortunately, the brake lights are not working. Tail lights work when light switch is used, but brake lights do not work.

My question for the group is, is this the pressure type switch at the end of the Master Cylinder like on my older jeeps, or is it something different in these new fangled 60's jeeps? Shop mechanic was not around when I paid for the jeep, so there was no one to ask before I left.

My original owners manual does not cover this, so I was hoping I could get some info from the group.

Thanks for any and all info, and have a good day!

Yes the brake light switch is originally on the end of the master cylinder. The hot wire is maybe fused.

    Chris,

Just coming out of the shop for brake work I'd check the two wires on the switch for being connected. One wire should be hot from the main light switch and the other goes to the turn signal harness.

    Thanks for the info!

I'll check the wires tonight after work. My wife was tailing me home from the shop, and said they flikered at one stop light, so maybe the wires are just not hooked up right...I hope!

Thanks again, and have a good day!

    Chris
