All, the hardtop I have for my CJ acts like the windshield needs to be straighter (more vertical) than it sits in its normal position. Are there different brackets or adapter parts that I could benefit from?

    Pic of windshield and brackets?

Is the wiper motor on the inside? If so, it could be a '76 or later windshield, which tilts back more. Otherwise it's probably the gasket that's old and compressed. If you shim it up with inner tube rubber or such and adjust the latches the windshield will have less rake, and the top may fit better.

the wipers are electric, and on the inside, on top. the windshield frame is a repro from onix-ada :( or whoever makes them now. the brackets are the originals, that came w/ the jeep. I put new gasket between the frame and tub when we redid all the jeep. As soon as my wife gets home in it, I'll get some pics.

It will only take you a moment to throw that M38A1 windshield on there and you'll know for sure.

Do you maybe have the latches too tight? Try adjusting them up a little bit.

Just putting a straight edge on the screen you can see the windshield is going back too far. Like Tim said, maybe the gasket is too compressed between the windshield and body. Might need to shim it a bit to get it straight. My hardtop on my 62 has the doors attach to both body and windshield, forcing the windshield to sit up at the correct angle. But if I remember right, when I put it on last fall, it lined up with the windshield pretty good, if anything it was just a hair too far forward for the hardtop and took a little push to get it on there.

    Thanks for the input.

Stout: I have the latches inside as loose as possible, and still keep the w/s from being loose.

Eaallred: I have new gasket in there, unless I'm missing one or more.

    Anymore ideas?

You can use a length of rubber to shim the windshield to a more upright position . Just lay it along the cowl seal.

I ripped a strip off of the original window frame rubber and laid it under the dash edge of the frame propped the window up nicely...
