Replacement gas tank question

Looks like I have a leak in my fuel tank. It's not in the best shape, and I'd probably be better off just replacing it. Has anyone bought one of these? It's listed as Rugged Ridge, but I think it's the Omix-Ada 17720.06. I can't seem to find any info on the forums about them, just wondered if it should be easy enough to install. And if I'm pulling the tank, should I be replacing any of the other components in its vicinity?

All the Jeep resellers stock the same Rugged Ridge / Omix-Ada line of parts. They sell the parts without keeping them in stock and have them drop-shipped from Omix directly to you. Certainly I would buy from one of the specialty Jeep retailers like Turners or Walcks before I would buy from an unknown on eBay. Check Oconee Offroad www.oconeeoffroad.com for prices - they seem to be the only ones who have somehow beaten the Omix shipping cartel ... I presume they actually stock the parts and ship from their location.

You can also go with a plastic tank. MTS is the usual source http://www.mtscompany.com/

Search old posts and you'll find a lot of discussion of this topic.

I was probably going to stick with the amazon listing for this one because my company gave me a pile of amazon gift cards to burn through. Already bought an Ignitor and a marine 12v socket for my Blazer, the fuel tank was going to be what probably wiped out most of what's left.

MTS lists the 0041 and 0042, apparently there's a different type of sending unit hole on the tanks, even in the same year? Guess I'll have to get a better look at the tank and make sure I get the right one then, unless there's some way to know which tank you have besides looking at the tank.

Look under the seat, at the top of the tank. The earlier style uses 6 screws, and the later style uses a lock ring. It will be obvious when you are looking at it.

That's the same tank I bought for mine and it is very nice. Good quality, well built, and the exact size of the original. It comes in silver and after I got it all installed, I realized they are supposed to be black. I may pull it all back out someday and paint it.
