Can anyone explain the significance of the suffix on the maker's plate? For example mine reads GGW4801-D 10L. Would this be interchangable with one marked GGW4801-D 2H?

    Thanks,

    Elisha Lee

Generators designation numbers are a reference for several reasons. Mounting hole size, rotation, pulley used etc. and for matching the proper regulator for the generators use and power output. Ford type generators were made in both "A" and "B" circuit configurations so the correct regulator is imperative to the generators proper operation.

GGW4801-D 10L and GGW4801-D 2H are exactly the same generators. the 10L (Oct 56) and 2H (Feb 53) are the month and year of production and are often followed by a serial number.
