I have a '70 CJ-5 with a 225 V6 & Motorola 35amp alternator. It has a separate 3 wire (red,to regulator;green to field; and black to ground) transistorized voltage regulator #114 on the firewall. The light dims when running but never goes out. I put a meter on the battery posts & I get readings from 13.2 to 15.+ volts. I checked the wiring which seems ok. Is there any way I can test the alt. or v.r. to see which one is bad?
And in reading other posts I think I'll I'll switch to a Delco unit if I can't figure out my problem.

The only luck I ever had was to take alt and reg to la localelectrial shop the have them check it out. Maybe a local flaps is also a possibility.

Are you trying to keep this jeep original? If not then the Delco conversion is highly recomended. As it is, the diode trio inside the alt probably has one open diode in the pack. It will be 3 small glass diodes on a small ckt board.
