Would any of you out there know how or if I can take the wiring harness from the doner vechile (4x4 Blazer) and just transplant it into the jeep? I know its much more complicated than that but the jeep has NO wiring at all and I am trying to get this thig up and runnng as cheap as possible so it kind of eliminates the $500 painless wiring harness if possible.

    Could I make it work?
How do I go about "trimming the fat" from the harness?

    Thanks!

First off, get hold of Brenden at http://www.lt1swap.com/ He has a great website that has a ton of info on the conversions. And, he will reprogram the computer to work correctly for you.

I am in the process of doing the exact same swap you are talking about.

Here is how I went about it.

I started at the engine, and just simply cut the ends off the wires I did not need-------air conditioner as an example. I then went inside the car, and removed the dashboard, a determined which wires I would need, and cut the ends off the rest of them also.

Then, I removed the computer, and fed the wiring harness through the firewall, and left it wrapped up on the engine.

Remove the engine, and then start unwrapping the harness, and removing the wires that you had previously cut the ends off.

It helps to have a wiring diagram, (Brenden had e-mailed me what I needed).

I have kept the check engine light, and the diagnostic port, but not much else that is not strictly required for engine function.

    Tedious, but not hard project.

I have yet to start the reassembly of the Jeep, so I can not tell you yet how it all ended up, but from what I have learned, all should be fine.

I recommend you also get the gas tank, and fuel pump from your donor car--------you can transplant the pump into the Jeep tank with a bit of work.

I have a build thread going, http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?74891-In-the-beginning and will be showing the fuel tank modification when I do it.

    Good luck
