Does anyone have a sure fire way to pull the steering wheel from my '71 cj. It's a new wheel so cutting it off is not an option. I need it off to pull oput the ross box. Help!!

Before you try a puller, try this:

    Sit in the driver's seat
Wedge your knees under the bottom the steering wheel
Grab the top of the sterring wheel with your hands
While pushing up on the bottom of the steering wheel with your knees, wiggle the top back and forth

I tried numerous pullers on my 71, and couldn't get the wheel off. I worked on it for hours. Finally, I found a post from an oldtimer here on the forum that described this procedure. I went out to the jeep, tried it and the steering wheel popped right off!!! The post said that using this procedure, they all eventually come off, some are more difficult than others. It sure worked for me. I wish I had done the research before I started the job. It would have saved a lot of time and work.

I would do Uncle Bill's method, if it were me.
But, then again I like doing things simple and not the ones that can do bodily harm.
No,sir! Do not like pain! Pain Hurts!
