    Have 2a with 225 which will be getting a 3rd renovation in a year. Building for offroad, stretch a bit making wider frame (have to hide that from wife, but once I cut it when she is gone it will all be good), 37 -39 tires, will be an auto, fuel injected and want to be able to abuse it a bit - rev the motor for some fun. The 225 has been good to me, really lugs and has never let me down with repeated 13,000 elevation journeys but mine is tired and concerned about duability reving. Questions;
    1) is the 225 worth the effort and cost of rebuilding and fuel injecting verse the 4.3 liter?
    2) cost to fuel inject a 225 ( i do the install)?
    3) Durability/revability 225 vs 4.3 vortec
    4) power output injected 225 vs 4.3 vortec
    5) Auto trans options for 225 (T case will need to be low geared, possibly and atlas or?)
    6) any pros cons for either?
    Thanks much for the advice. Was thinking 4.3 but kinda hate to get rid of the 225.

    Since your already making major changes with the frame. I would put a 4.3 in. The factory EFI is hard to beat. My 225 is EFI with megasquirt, but that is an animal all it's own. Other guys have used the powerjection system on the 225, one with success and the other is still fighting with his.......I'd say the jury is out on powerjection right now. Go 4.3 with a painless wire system and make life easy for yourself. The 4.3 is heavier and produces more power, the aftermarket support for this motor is excellent. The 225 is a niche market with us old school jeepers. Since your running more wt. and heavier drivetrain you will be happier with more hp. Just my 2 cents.

    For the kind of build you're doing I would say 4.3. Be prepared to stretch out the wheelbase to make room for the auto. You may want to consider the dana 300 t-case with a set of low gears - probably cheaper than the atlas. Good Luck.

    Thanks Willys59cj and akcj. That is what I was looking for, some real input from people that have done it. 4.3 it is.
