Electrical question - Alternator light

We're re-wiring the 70 Jeepster, given that several of its previous owners' response to electrical problems was to cut things off and run new wires ( like to the trailer lights bolted to the tire rack when the tail lights stopped working...). Among the many changes in the car's life it got a new Delco alternator with a built-in regulator.

Question is: what powers the alternator lamp on the dash? Without the separate regulator, where can I get power to the lamp when the ignition is on, but the alternator isn't producing current?

Under normal circumstances the dash light gets it's power from the run side of the ignition switch. It and the oil pressure light are on the same circuit. This is a simplified explanation but the alternator light then grounds through the regulator which turns the light on until the alternator starts charging.
