I am looking to swap the Holley Aluminum valve covers on my 1965 Buick V6 225 with original steel ones. I wish to do this because I am thinking the originals would have oil drippers built in to direct oil to valve train from push rods and also thinking they would have some baffling built in for pvc and oil fill/breather openings. Does anyone know if above is true and/or if newer ones from a 3.8 litre 231 would fit?

Also can anyone sheds some light on what a dipstick would be for the 225? Mine has a universal aftermarket one and wish to install the original to seal it up a bit tighter. Yeah I bet some are thinking blow by problem but not really. Anyway I was looking for the dipstick and tube that is pressed into block and guides the dipstick but am beginning to think that there is no tube and just a dipstick that inserts directly into block. Is this so? And how well does it seal? Good enough to keep dust and such out?

Thanks for any help. And if anyone has any of the above to sell or trade for the aluminum covers let me know.

Also looking for axle shafts for Warn Full Floater kit for offset 44 or trade centered 44 kit for offset kit.

    Our Heep is:
46 cj2a, fiberglass, 225 w/headers, T18, D18, OD, 27, 44, 34x9.5x15 Super Swampers, fullcage, modified 1/2 cab into 3/4 cab, winch, and of course loads of creativity. Boy do we get the looks and used as daily driver.

Push rods on these motors are not oiled per say, you can actually take the valve covers off this motor and run it without getting oil on anything. They oil the valve train thru holes in the heads that direct oil thru the rocker shafts and direct it to the top of the valves and the pushrod tips. Only 1 stock valve cover has a baffle in it, the one that has the oil fill cap in it.

Yours may very well have only had a dipstick, mine is a 71 and has a dipstick tube but alot of the early motors did not have a tube from what I have seen.

Ask around as you can buy a full floater kit for the offset or make one using used parts, can't remember how, but several on the board have.

Please post your axles shaft request in the Wanted To Buy section. As Mcruff stated the 225 has solid pushrods and oils through the heads so OEM valve covers wouldn't make much of a difference.

You can find more info about the FF kits on our tech page (see front page tech section) or www.vernco.com.
