I have a 50mm ammo can that I'm about to install for in-between-seat storage. I may be a dreamer, but I eventually intend to have both an overdrive and a PTO. I'd like to install the ammo can right the first time and leave enough room for both of these additions down the line.

So, what should be the proper distance from some point of reference (like the stock PTO shifter hole) to the front of the console in order to allow proper functioning of a PTO lever?

From what I've read (http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?41733-Repositioning-of-the-PTO-Lever) an Overdrive moves a PTO 6-7" rearward. But for some the seat mounts get in the way of the new PTO lever hole. Some have suggested modifying the PTO levers or remotely actuating them, which means all of my concerns are moot since then I'd be able to put the levers where ever. Anyways, is there a straight forward answer for this?

Put it where you want it. Move it down the road. Although OD levers may all be in the same spot, PTO levers vary greatly.

I mounted a 30 cal call on my toolbox right beside the passenger seat, not in the way of any leavers.

I have a '5, but I suspect my experiences would be similar. I installed a Warn OD, with the adapter and a Spicer rear PTO. That PTO lever is about seven inches behind the square plate where the factory anticipated the PTO lever would be. You would have to mount your ammo box in front of that if it didn't interfere with your gear shift for the transmission. I really don't know how well that would work, but that's my thought.

By the way, the PTO shift tower on my model acually comes out about a quarter of an inch above the floor, making a remote cable shifter a tough install, unless you clocked the PTO case somehow. Hope this helps....

    Great information, thank you guys.

So in general, what angles are PTO levers at in engaged vs disengaged. For instance if we call straight up North, would one position (either engaged or disengaged) be N and its opposite be NW, W, NE, or E?
