I had the glass guy over here on Friday to put in new glass on one of those imported aftermarket frames. He ended up leaving without installing a thing because the aftermarket frame has only 1 layer of steel where the gasket is supposed to ride. According the the glass man the gasket is designed for almost 1/8" wide frame thickness and the windshield might not hold -- or at least be very sloppy.

The question is are there "aftermarket" 72-5 gaskets out there that will fit the cheapy thin frame? Or do I need to strip it down and weld in some more steel?

The gasket that came with my imported frame has a thick grove for the glass and a thin grove for the frame.

The gasket I got from Krage is the same thickness on both ends. Wonder if I got the wrong part number?

Windshield guy just left and came with an aftermarket gasket. Worked like a charm. Only bad part was the $45 price tag.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a gasket for my imported/aftermarket windshield frame like the one described here? I"m having the same problem with my aftermarket windshield frame as described here. When I ask vendors if they have an aftermarket gasket they all state that there's no difference, but we know better. Thanks!

I have a extra new windshield gasket that I bought from Krage that I don't need. If you want it I'll send it to ya for $25.
