I have recieved my saginaw steering box off a wagoneer from ebay with the number 76 stamped on it. It has o-ring fittings. Now I need to order a power steering pump but Napa guy doesn't know what year to start looking at. Any suggestions?

As I recall, the only difference is an extra fitting that screws in to the back of the pump to adapt the o-ring to the flare fitting. You should be able to find one at the junk yard. Otherwise, the pumps are the same.

What engine brackets do you have, from a Wagoneer? I'd get a complete PS pump, with reservoir, for a late '80s Wagoneer (pick a year). Then I'd try the hoses from the last year of production for the CJ with a 304, 1981. If it's not the o-ring setup, then you'll have to have custom hoses made for that steering gear.

They went to O rings in 80 so any pump after that should come with the correct fitting but if not easy enough to find as Tim says.

I'll tell the parts guy to look for the later 80's style then. Thanks guys!
