I think I have finally built up my '68 :v6: to the point where I am almost ready for plates. I live in Colorado and need it'll need to be smogged. I know that right now it will not pass. It now has two very old, very LOUD (maybe very no-good) glass packs. I know nothing about exhaust and want to do this right the first time. First I plan on having the carb profesionally tuned. With the exhaust I want to bring out that :v6: sound!!! Not sure what I can do to pass the testing and still get that solid sound from the engine. I do know that right now it is awefully loud and oboxious. Any ideas are helpfull!!! Have a very Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Those glass packs need to go. Out west where it is dry they are real fire starters. I have rejetted carbs and run 1/2 alchohol to pass smog tests and changed right back after the test. Hopefully you won't have to go to that extreme. It will make the hydrocarbons pass though easily. Do you have to smog check a '68 yearly or just to get it licensed?

You will be surprised - the test is not that tough for a 68... I have a '68 that passed in Denver when I bought it (the PO had a current emmissions slip). My wife's 66 Mustang passed with a 289 - headers - Edelbrock 650 on a Cobra Intake.

I have run glass packs for years on jeeps with dual exhaust the exits behind the rear wheels.

I just passed my annual safety inspection today. No emissions test required for a vehicle of '67 vintage here in Texas. Y'all need to saddle up and come to the land of the free!

Even better here in Havasu. NOTHING REQUIRED!

Most of AZ is like that except the Phoenix area I think, for smog.

Here, if it has wheels, a motor, a place for the liscense plate, headlights and tail lights--you can run it on the streets. :)
