Spitting back thru carb

    the Holly direct bolt on is one that should mount without any spacer or adapter needed, and ready to run out of the box with minimal adjustments. are you getting one? will there be enough room with a spacer?

    I should have asked "What model Holley carb is a direct bolt-on?"

    Does it make sense that the distributor could be causing this? The motor runs great until it gets completely up to temp and it is pushed to about 55mph or so.

    I don't know of a direct replacement carb for the Rochester 2G that is on the stock intake. I have moved on to the 4bbl intakes with lots of options.

    Is the Offenhauser the only 4 barrel intake or are there others available?

    The Offy is one of the best, and it can be found in dual (recommended) or single plane. There are also older versions of Holley and Kenne Bell that I know of first hand. Most of these are square bore, so will take most of the newer carbs.
