I'm cleaning up stuff behind the dash while I have the dash out and was checking out the heater and associated bits. I pulled the fresh air duct off and can see the fresh air flap/valve is loosing it's rubber? seal. Anyone have a method and material for replacing that seal? Here's what I'm talking about.

Also, while I had things opened up I thought I'd see if anything was loose in the heater box. Check out what I found. I had to enlist my wife with her small hands to pull that stuff out. This 6" pile doesn't include the small stuff I vacuumed out. Having heater problems? This looks like a good place for people to check when the have access to the heater box. No micron filters here.

Somebody over at the JCCA did a write up on it, they use the same box.Turns out the write up wasn't that great, all the pictures are gone showing how it was done and no mention of what was used to replace the seal other than mention of 1/8" rubber mating. It is pretty easy to get the flapper valve out and you will need to separate the two metal halves of the flapper to replace the rubber. Can't really tell how those are held together but on Jeepster/Commando they're just riveted. Oh ya. nice rats nest or is it a bunny with a pancake nest?
