Maybe this belongs under "builds"...I don't know.

I have a week to go now. I've narrowed the orange color down to these three and I'd like to hear what you guys, and gals, have to say about the color.

This will go on the body, inside and out, including windshield frame. I am thinking of painting the grill black and of course the trim, mirrors, and hood hardware is all black. On the interior, the dash will be orange, seats are black.

Taken with a camera phone...no clear coat applied.

    :iagree:

Far left. The darker is tougher looking and not so much like a candy Lifesaver.

I set them in the sun to bring out the color better. Switched the left and right from the first pic.

I like the darker too. It's Atomic Orange, from 2003 Nissan Xterra. Looks really good with the clear coat.

I like the darker Atomic Orange too. Gotta be careful with orange and black, you don't want it to look too Halloween-ish.....or maybe you do?

No I don't, but the darker orange is not quite "pumpkin" color so I think it'll be okay.

When I first shot that paint it looked really good and I was leaning that way. I kind of liked the yellowish color that came through...at least that's how I saw it. But once the clear coat goes on it'll really brighten up and I think it'll be too much for my taste.

I was going to get a small quantity of cheap clear just to shoot over all 3 and then compare, but the shop was closed by then.

How are you spraying the paint Norm? HVLP or regular and where are you doing it, in you garage? I'm rattle canning a lot of little stuff and the pollen is messing some stuff up. If you do a good job I may drive over and you can do mine :)

I did this in the drive with a HVLP. The paint flashes pretty quick so less garbage sticks. But I'm still thinking of making a plastic barrier paint booth in the garage. Too much pollen and tree "stuff" falling.

I bought some in a rattle can and did one of the fenders late last year to see if I like it. I thought it was a little too bright for what I'm looking for.

Tempting...but I think I want to spray it on. I've never done anything like this before so I thought I should at least try it. I did consider yellow, but the guy at the paint shop warned me that yellow tends to show imperfections more than other paints...and they are usually more costly.

That was a good thread. I might do that with the M416 when it comes time.

I too like the Atomic Orange. FWIW it is very close to the Renegade Orange on my 75 CJ

I like the middle one myself. Had a '71 about that color and with the black windshield and wheels it looked really good in my opinion.

I am trying to keep within some of the Jeep colors. The paint store had a hard time finding the right formula for original Jeep colors. I thought the dark one looks a bit like Renegade Orange too.
