What do you like the best. I have used Permatex and I don't care for it. I have been using POR 15 but I am beginning to question it's long term durability in winter salt conditions. I think there was a bit from Eastwood where a body guy said rust will creep from another area. Now I have seen it on metal that sits outside for years and it lasts. There are a lot of companies making products with great claims. When I do my CJ frame I don't want to be back at it in a year.

Sandblasting and epoxy primer. As Neil Young said "Rust never sleeps". IMO, in a winter salt encrusted driving environment, all these fancy schmancy coatings do is give the rust a nice comfy blanket so it can grow big and strong.............................

I have used the Permatex in a blue spray can. The product did what it said it would do: Turn the rust black. Will it stop it? I dunno. I guess I will find out in a few years.

There is very little anyone can do about the frame living in the salt belt. Besides keeping a eye on it and preventative maintenance.

A coating is just that like paint on your car it can easily become useless. Once you rake the frame over a stump or rock while heading out into the woods that coating will come off.

The Eastwood stuff looks good. On PJ I plan on using Rust Lock or some type of poly/epoxy coating layered mix and crossing my fingers. Then adding UHMWPE (think cutting board plastic) plastic strips (this makes a GREAT skid plate) in areas that may rub against something that would remove the coating.
