Ok guys ive got the axle shafts out and im ready to get my parts for the disc brake swap. Its a dana 60 semi floater 5 on 5. One main question is am i going to have to mill down the outter shaft to allow for the rotors to clear? And what set up should i use- ford , jeep rotors, chevy calipers ect. Thanks in advance.

When you ordered the custom shaft, you should have told them what diameter you wanted the flanges to be.

My 60 uses Chevy backing plates redrilled to fit the Ford big bearing outters I used and slotted so that they are used as the bearing retainer. Chevy calipers and CJ Thick rotors.

Oops, after re-reading it sounds like you have a stock J truck D60.

i would not machine down the flanges i would take some off of the rotors if you can, its a dana 60 form a J-truck right if so then its the 5-5/12 bolt pattern i would use the fords from a bronco cheeper than the jeep thick ones, jason.

I looked at some ford rotors at the auto parts place and they are to thick to use the chevy calipers.Im not stuck on the chevy calipers but i found mounting brackets for the chevy calipers that i can buy local. And yes it is out of a j-10.I do like the idea of milling down the rotors, has anyone down this before?

I'd mill down the OD on the flange of the shaft. It won't hurt anything and you will be able to use rotors off the shelf if you ever need to replace one.

chevy used two style caliper brackets one standard 1 1/8 thick rotors and the metric witch are 7/8 thick, i like the thicker one's. the other option is to get some chevy 6 lug disc rotors and re-drill your hole pattern, they fit over the flange of the dana 44 so it should go over a semi float 60 with the same bolt pattern. you can get them thick or thin ( standard or metric ) rotors too, jason.
