Have a '67 CJ5, V6. Pulled the heater core out and its leaking and basically shot. I want heat and defrost next winter. An I better off getting a new heater core and a mid 70's Blazer fan, staying stock or put in a Summit heater? I like keeping the Jeep stock.

BTW, the Rock Auto 67 heater core they have pictured doesn't look exactly like mine. Anyone bought a 67 from them or anywhere else?

Bought a 69 from Advance Auto. Works perfectly. Still need a new fan though.

when I made my 2nd heater I got a HD fan and motor for an 85 chevy truck together they were about $5 more than standard but 85 full size truck was the cheapest I found. as far as a blower motor conversion goes (if i remember) the hd motor sits in the cage more than the standard, I can get the part numbers I used if you wish.I was going to swap heater motors but my original heater somehow got better, and my passenger was the cold one so I made a simple passenger heater

the summit will do the job and do it well but is not stock or cheap
the motor conversion moves a lot more air than stock. but involves tearing apart the motor to rotate the brushes around, a new switch, and an adapter plate normally made from wood. the conversion uses the stock jeep fan (jeep hamster wheel thing, the jeep fan housing is built for the jeep fan which rotates the opposite direction as a chevy fan so the brushes get reworked and voila big motor that pushes air the proper direction) no big deal just work, and with a fresh new heater core, it should do fine.

now if i could just remember to turn off the fresh air in the cold and to open the coolant valve on the heater hoses...

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll stick with stock and Blazer fan, doesn't sound too complicated and throws heat.
