Heavy clutch fix

    Bought a '67 CJ5 in Feb. Clutch was very hard. After investigating several possible fixes, I decided to replace the clutch. I hoped the old one was a 3 finger heavy duty one but it wasn't, it was a diaphram, same as I was putting in.

    Well, the new clutch (and linkage pieces) works great. Completely solved the problem and the clutch pedal feels great. Don't really know what the orignial problem was but old clutch was well used, just about down to rivets.

    Big relief.

    It may have been a HD diaphram clutch. That's what's in mine......and I hate it. It's on the to go list.

    AH, didn't know there were heavy duty diaphram pressure plates. That may expain it. New one is like butter.

    Mine is very heavy also. I hate the thing, by the time the light turns green my legs wore out. heavyist clutch I have ever pushed in. So you pedals not hard to push now at all??

    Pedal is very light now. No strain on the old, cranky knee.
