I have a set of springs for an m38a1 for a song (read free). and I was wondering how do they compare to 2a/3a springs. I'm getting close to starting reassembly on a frankenstein 2a/ 3a/ dj project and was wondering how well they would match up to 2a wheelbase

I'm sorry to ask such an elementary question but my old 2a springs are buried behind my body tub and truck toolbox (storage fail I know). I was contemplating a shackle reversal, I guess I was more wondering about the axle locator pin. Is it dead center or is it offset like I've heard that some cherokee springs are.

    Thanks

Nope, both CJ5/6 and all the flatties use centered pins. The flattie springs are about 4" shorter than the M38A1, CJ5/6 on both axles. One can use the longer springs on a flat fender, but you have to move all the frame spring/shakle hangers.
