The brake lines from the master cylinder to the combination valve are shot. I have changed from the original MC to a power unit off an 81 Scrambler. The original lines were 3/16 but the fittings on the master cylinder are larger, I believe 1/4 and 5/16, I have ordered nuts in 1/4 , 5/16 and 3/8 for 3/16 tubing. This seemed to work OK before but since I am bending new lines would it be best to stick with 3/16 or go larger?
The fittings on the combination valve are 3/16 and 1/4 I think.

    Thanks

Unless you plan on installing larger pistons (and other components) from a scrambler (and hey why not) you may want to stick with the size you have now. The size difference may not sound like a lot but it actually is when you consider it over the length of the (rear) break line and that it is a power unit. Don't get me wrong I have installed 1/4 line before. It will just put a lot more stress on the smaller piston seals leading to premature failure.

Always a good idea to replace the pistons, remove/clean the springs/linkage, clean your diverter (combination/proportioning valve), and replace the break switch(if in line) when ever you do something like replacing all the lines. It is like a extra hour of work and around $200 to keep you from having to screw with the stuff on the side of the road.

So what your saying is stick with the 3/16.
That works because I have some bulk line left over from re plumbing the 47.

    Thanks
