I'm heading by NAPA on the way home from work to pick up a starter for my 231. I browsed www.napaonline.com to check prices and found that a reasonable deal at $35 with and $8 core. Since my motor is a 231 I've been using a '75 or '76 Buick Regal 3.8L to find parts. It occurred to me that most of those probably were automatic transmissions rather than manual. Does it make a difference for the starter or does an AT flexplate tooth pattern match that of a manual trans flywheel?

Joel: Good question. I think I remember something about that being discussed here before and the consensus was that they were the same as the :v6: .

If you don't get an answer, I guess you'll find out when you take if off and compare.

Don't think he has anything to compare to. Guess you'll find out when you try it and hear that gawd awful munching metal sound. :D
