After using Google to search this forum!!!!!! It looks like there were three colors for the F-head block, with black being the most common. I am in the process of de-crudding my block and it looks to have been painted orange. I have heard stories of the Jeep being used to pull stuff out of the water after hurricanes, so I am guessing that it must have been rebuilt at some point.

What is odd is that there are several parts (one looking like a small coffee can on the upper part of the motor) that are red/orange as well. Does anyone have a picture of the original paint for everything under the hood?

Here's a pile-o-pics:http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/Hurricane.html The "coffee can" is the canister for the oil filter, they were originally red/orange color. Black seems to be the most common engine color, but you can paint any color you want. Black does not show oil leaks well.

Hey, glad it helped! Google built a $5 billion business on that search engine - it had better be good! :coffee:
