I have a Stromberg BV2 or BXV2 single barrel on the Ford 170.
Asked all over if anyone knows how to tune these.
Unfortunatly, no one has any useful info.

I have a stumble at initial acceleration.
Yes a kit has been put in it so the accelerator pump should be fine.
How do you adjust the accelerator pump.

In the attachd pic below yu will see the threaded rod poking through the black plastic cap. Is this the adjustment?
Tjhis was loose because of vibration, and when I adjust it does make some difference, but not a cure.

Surely someone knows how to tune these very common carbs, It can't be that much of a dark art.

    Frustrated Buell.

Looks like a conventional carb... not mysterious.

    Like this one:

Is this a factory carb for a Falcon or similar Ford? Or somebody's substitution? I recall the Strombergs were used on a lot of old cars, sp. on the 6-cylinder Studebakers. Maybe check the Studebaker sites for some manual excerpts.

Multiple Strombergs were a popular setup for early hot rodders - that's another place to check.

Typically you have some kind of external adjustment for the accelerator pump shot. maybe you need to bend the rod on the outside. When you first open the throttle, you'll get a lag until the vacuum catches up with the wider throttle. The pump shot is meant to overcome this lag. Do you get an obvious pump shot when you look down the carb bore (not running) and crank the throttle? You should see a squirt of gas. If no squirt, I expect you put it together wrong - left out a check ball or something similar.

If your carb kit came with instructions, it should tell you what the settings are.

    Thanks mate.
I'll have a look at some of the sites you suggest.
This motor and carb are standard equipment on this Australian Jeep.
