Needing to remove and replace my brake master cylinder on my 1970 CJ5 V6 dual resevoir. I walked into NAPA and bought a remanufactured M/C part# P1842 http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=NMBP1843_0311456861&An=599001+101970+50045+2045003 but it just doesn't feel like it's the right one. I'm worried I am going to tear it off it's going to make a mess for as long as it takes to find the correct one. Mine mounts under my feet on the frame this one does not look like it does mine also is a bolt on cover though I doubt that detail matters.

Your link leads to P1843 which is a fire-wall mount MC. The nr you say, P1842 does not appear in the catalog?

    Try these part numbers:

    Wagner MC56193
    Cardone 101292
    Dorman M56193
    Bendix R11373

All of these are dual-chamber, and have the threaded port in the bottom for the brake light switch.

The Napa master cylinder is the same one that I am using. I didn't have any problems getting it to fit.

I'm using the same one also. I did have to modify how the rod is held in. I hope you kept the original clip that held the rod in the master cyl.. I reused it, but I had to grind alittle of the backside to get the snapring in. Also you won't get a bolt on cover unless you find an original master cyl..
