Howard, please excuse these photos. It's still chilly to be taking off a wheel. Also, these tanks are not undercoated. They just have a coat of mud on them.

This shows (barely) the gas supply line and the rear mounting bolt.

Another shot of the rear mounting bracket.

This shows the front of the tank with the two bolts going up through the top of the fender well and through my roll-bar mounting plate.

This shows the tank following the contour of the wheel opening. The top of the tank is flat, but there is a 45° angle on both sides at the top. That is barely noticeable in these photos.

I've had them out, occasionally, over the years. The next time I'll take individual photos and measurements.

    Thanks John- click-save :).

I want more gas capacity but I don't want to hack the frame for a rear tank. Not sure I want to cut holes for the filler necks either but it's something to think about.

Oh, do I understand. Actually I've only purchased one NEW vehicle in my life, and it was this Jeep. Cutting the holes for the gas tank as well as the holes for the peterbuilt vent doors took a bit of thought.

Both jobs were done before the Jeep was a year old.

I will say, as time went on, modifications were a bit easier. I hated the stock exhaust system and wasn't very happy with the Jeep steering. My poor dashboard will never again be mistaken for NOS. My Jeep started out as a Tuxedo, but there wasn't much there that I liked. Those chrome bumpers were not up to my standards. I felt lucky to trade all the Tux stuff for a roll bar and a good Jeep trailer hitch. The single transfer case lever was soon swapped for a two lever unit.

Now, it's pretty much no big deal if I think it will make things better.
