Hello, I was requested to post here for additional help. Everybody here has been more than helpful in the past.

We are in the process of a full body off restoration and we were wondering if our Cj6 was always a Civilian Jeep. I know a lot of Cj6s had some pretty interesting history with the Military, Border Patrol, or the Forest Service. So we not looking for anyone to do the research for us. Just advice on where to find any history of the Jeep's past. Here's is what we know so far... We purchased it last year from AZ. and had it shipped back to Tennessee. That's all I know for sure. We are about 75 % complete in a full body off restoration. Once again, Any help would be appreciated.

My 70 CJ6 was a border patrol Jeep.
It has a brass plate on the dash.
will see if I have any pictures

Someone on another Jeep forum recently posted that he had obtained all previous registration information from his state's DMV. That was in Oklahoma. Worth a shot to see if you can obtain past info on yours.

Carfax seems to be mainly voluntary info based, so if a body shop or other place doesn't post it, it isn't on the history.. At least that is how it was a few years ago. The DMV would be the best bet if that is a possibility.

Personally, I'd like to know if the DMV can give you the info on the vehicles you (or a family member) has owned in the past. I'm trying to find info on a '5 my father had 20 years ago..

You say you got the CJ6 from AZ? Did the AZDMV assign a new VIN# to your Jeep? If so, the previous records may not be available.
