I did the 'ol "turn the tire-count the revolutions of the yolk" test on my CJ5 and came up with 5.??:1. Was there any 5.13's or similar offered in these Jeeps? Maybe someone threw in a gearset. I dunno but it is waaaay too low for what I'm wanting to do lol! I'm going to take the cover off the front tomorrow and count teeth to be sure. D25 & offset D44, don't know exact year of chassis but its early CJ5.

Tried looking online and couldn't come up with anything.

    Thanks- John

I think the early's typically came with 5:38's.

So, what engine do you have in your CJ? What are you going to use it for?

It had a V6 in it when I got it but after 50+ years who knows if its stock or not. There is an adapter from the bellhousing to the T-90 and the motor mount towers look aftermarket to me. But I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure I have the 5.38's. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

It's going to have a SBC/th350/D18 setup in it and its use will be street, gravel roads, light offroad, and sand. I'm hoping to fit 35's on it. Even assuming I would get a true 35" tall tire I'm looking at(according to the gear ratio calculator http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html ) I'll be running a bit over 3500RPM at 65, sure to be a gas guzzler lol! Alot of the little day trips we will like to take will be out of town so that won't be fun.

    Good link BTW!

    Thanks guys

    -John
