how well does it drain the block? my radiator sprung a leak back in the summer, it was just a dribble. and i never got around to fixing it. I drained the block and radiator with plans of having it fixed before cold weather got here. well it didnt happen. had almost 100% water in the system. I know its a little to late to do the right thing now. but i did drain it before freezing temps got here. It would be a damn shame if it has busted. (new engine less than 150 miles on it)

If you put new casting plugs in (freeze plugs) you may be lucky..

Could you pour straight antifreeze in to protect it?

Mine was fine when I drained it with the block drain. I think that a little left is ok provided the ice has a place to heave. Anyway we hit -20ish and she was fine in the spring.

yes i put new plugs in. IIRC the block drain is well below the plugs. not sure the plugs would make a difference if its drained below them:?

well the block drain must work pretty darn well. it started right up in 14°f temps. warmed it up and took it for a spin in the snow.
