Just for others info. I put up a set of stock XJ rear springs next to the factory M38a1 springs. Not sure how much of sag the XJ springs would have after weight is put on them, but I made measurements for hieght differences.

Measured with springs upside down, so the arch is like a rainbow.

M38a1 5 1/2 inches from ground to first spring leaf

XJ 7 1/4 inches from ground to first spring leaf.

So it looks like if you used the XJ springs in spring under you will pickup about an inch of lift, BUT that depends on the weight factor. The M38a1 springs arebotu 11 leaves compared to 4 for the XJ. THe XJs are longer by about 4-6 inches. The center pin is offset and the short side matches the pin to end of the m38a1 perfectly. I am going to probably setup my m38a1 to be spring under with XJ leaves front and rear to do a DIY Holbrook setup :)

Sounds like a plan. I got a set of BD 4" XJ lift springs sitting around somewhere. Nearly new, about 3 rides on them, and a year or so of sitting.

Interesting. If one needed more lift/stiffer ride, the add a leaf lift set up might help.

Dan the XJ springs are much softer than the m38springs. I'm gonna guess with the weight on them they'll sit just a tad higher or the same as the stock springs.
