My girlfriend's grandpa owns a CJ-2A with all original parts. The jeep ran fine but last time we took it for a drive I noticed that it idles just fine. However, when you give it gas, it dies. Any suggestions?

accelerator pump or the main jet is plugged up with junk. Carb probably could use a rebuild. How long ago was the crab rebuilt if ever?

The last drive was the weekend prior to when I took it out. I asked and the gas is about 2 weeks old and her grandpa actually changed the fuel filter because he thought that was the problem.

It will idle all day long. You give it just a little bit of gas and it stalls.

High speed circuit is probably plugged in the carb, needs a rebuild. If it has never been rebuilt ethanol gas place havoc on the old seals

It has been rebuilt in the last couple of years. Doesn't get tons of miles of driving. I will pull the carb and take a look. BUT its next to impossible to find gas without ethanol in it.

If you buy a good quality rebuild kit it should be ethanol safe, problem could be junk for the rest of the fuel system seals also being destroyed and brought into the carb.

I was leaning towards dirty/clogged jets. Looks like I have something to do this weekend. Thanks for your opinions. I will report what I find.
