locking hubs

I need to be edjucated on this. I plan on adding locking hubs to my '59 cj5 but, to ease my budget, want to buy them used. I've seen them on ebay described to fit universal jeep and 10 spline, but when I enter my year and model it says they won't fit. Also descriptions vary.
What should I look for in condition and geometry? Any help would be appreciated.

I would check the "For Sale" forum here. I think Nikmil just sold a pair at a very reasonable price. Maybe post a WTB?

 

I just went through this issue myself. Model 25 or 27 front axles have the same 10 spline axles and 6 hole hubs. Any hub listed for a 10 spline shaft will fit. I found a good set of IH hubs from an early Scout that fit perfectly, very cheap $40 including shipping on ebay. As suggested put an ad in classifieds and the fine folks here will be happy to help.

 

I think I was looking at the same IH set.

Does anyone have a brand preference?

Shouldn't be hard to find a set. I just bought a set from NICKMIL about six months ago. Warn non premiums. Have a set of dualmatics that should work. PM me if interested. Haven't advertised but I'll sell'em.
