Speedometer replace/repair

    Connect a 12V battery + to the I (ignition) terminal on the fuel gauge and the battery - to the speedo housing. Connect a wire to the "S" terminal on the temp gauge and temporarily touch the other end of this wire to speedo case (ground). Watch the temp gauge slowly pulse over to hot. If the gauge only goes half way then it's 24V. You can also test the fuel gauge as well. Wire from "S" terminal on fuel gauge to ground should move needle to full. Don't hold the s wire to ground very long, only to see it move to full scale.

    Most automotive gauges work at 6V, not even 12V.
