'73 cj5 does not go into gear sometimes

    My shifter broke on my way home and I drove my Jeep for a couple of miles in just 3rd and 4th gears, since then I fixed the linkage and sometimes it goes through the gears fine and other times I may go through a couple of gears and then it will not let me go into any more gears (up or down). When I turn the engine off I can put it in 1st and start the engine and go again but then it may or may not let me go into any more gears. I have a cj5 with the 304 v8 and a Borg Warner super T-10 4 speed tranny. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Moved to the proper section. Not that it matters for you're particular issue, but your Jeep is technically an intermediate.
