Whoever had my Jeep before me did some awful body work and the front floor board is completely rusted out. Is there quality replacement bodies available for the M38a1? does anyone have any experiance with them?

    Here's an article on CJ3B tubs http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Tech/ReproTubs.html

I believe there is only one source for new, complete steel Jeep bodies - MD Juan in the Phillipines. Retail suppliers in the USA may add value with hole drilling, etc., but the primary source is the same. Other than the rear panel, I expect that all the panels and bodies available for the M38A1 will be the same as for a CJ5. There are differences in the M38A1 body from the CJ5, and you'll have to madify the CJ5 body using parts of your old body to duplicate an M38A1 exactly.

Where are you located? You may be able to find a used body, either M38A1 or CJ5, in good condition in the southwest.

Also, floorboards are easy to repair. It may be better and cheaper to repair your tub.

    im located in north florida.

At some point in time, someone covered over the right side, round indentation, the cowl door?,and just basicly did a THICK bondo coat over the rest of the rusty tub.( sounds nice doesent it!).So even if i was to repair the floor,i still would have what looked like a cj5 with a m38a1 front clip.

    thanks for any info.

Don't be discouraged. You're thinking about a few thousand dollar purchase if you're considering a new replacement body. The Jeep body is mostly flat steel, and comparatively easy to patch. Ask around about media blasting your tub, or go at it with a coarse disk on an air-driven polisher, and remove all the old paint and bondo. Then you can make a good assessment of whether it's easier to patch, replace panels, or look for a new tub.
