So, how did the paint job turn out Mcruff? And what did you end up using?

that stuff is great, i was going to do red, infact i bought it and painted my hood but after i sprayed it and looked at for a day or 2 i decided it was too pretty looking for my jeep. it looked like a brand new jeep.

so i sanded it all down and painted it rust oleum almond, i reduced it and added hardener, so now i have the perfect balance, it looks shiney, is tough and can be touched up with a spray can. :)

I used PPG Omni and am very pleased with it. It is a base/clear paint and after almost 4 years it still polishes up nicely. IIRC I paid about 200-250 for the paint, clear, reducer, primer, and cleaner. I used a little over half a gallon of paint for everything.

i didn't think about this possibly being an old thread---now i'm interested too mcruff---how did the paintjob turn out??---and how is it lasting???

i'm going to test out how a few different things spray---our atmosphere here is supercorrosive---only 40 miles from the gulf of mexico--very hard salty water from the ground and extreme sun and winds.

Okay, I am going to drag one out from the past,I think it is okay to do so.(Mod's please correct me if I am wrong) I was using the search function for paint information and came across this thread.I am also considering using one of the " one stage" products for painting my Commando.I recently got a quote from the paint supplier on the Omni MAE and am tempted to go with it. McRuff, did you end up using the Omni and if so what is your opinion of it after some time now?Anybody else have personal expierance with the Omni product on there vehicle for a length of time? In Projects71-5 post he refers to it as" base/clear", does that indicate that it still is a one stage product? Thanks,Oz

They're who I use. I've painted several bikes and a few cars, including Pete, w/ their paint. It's great stuff and priced less than anyone else. You only get a basic pallet of colors, they don't get into the match every new color game so they can keep their prices low.:v6:
