trans gear oil check

    do i need to drop the skid plate to check and fill the tranny.79cj5

    That all depends on the size of the skid plate. If you can get a wrench on the plug in the side of the tranny then I think not. To fill, I use a clear plastic tube that fits tight over the nozzle on the gear oil bottle and I can squeeze the lube into the plug hole to top off the trans.

    thanks walt. seems ljke there be an easier way to check.any advise on getting very old gas out of a fuel tank?

    drop the tank and tip it over without the sending unit in it or siphon it out. I use a siphon hose i got at NAPA just shake it a little and it is suckin...

    Priming your gas siphon is one thing the Mity Vac is really good at.

    Yeah, I just siphoned mine, then dumped what little was left once the tank was out.
