Kelly Bonanza II off a 60 cj5?

I have been reading on this site and am under the impression that the Kelly Bonanza II hard top and doors off my 60 cj5 will fit on my wifes uncle's 79 cj5 if we also switch the windshield is that correct? My jeep is in pieces and will be for a while and he has been looking for a top and out of the goodness of my heart thought about loaning mine to him to use. :tea:

 

If you put theold style windshield on the new style body, it will work. It's not just a bolt-on though, and the usual route is a new style windshield on the old style body. The new style windshields are way more plentiful.

To repeat, it's not just a bolt-on job. The '79 will end up with some new holes in the body, and you'll have to figure out a way to mount the old-style windshield catches. Plus you'll have the top wipers that you'll have to adapt to the '79 wiring. I recall the defroster vent in the top of the cowl needs to be changed too.

JMO - I wouldn't. I'd look around for the proper top.
